Diapers Affect Your Baby’s Walking

Baby wearing diaper. Diapers affect your baby's walking pattern when they are learning to walk.

Diapers are ubiquitous, non-negotiable, baby raising must-haves. In American culture, we don’t think twice about it.

And we’re usually not thinking about how they impact the baby’s movement. Unless you're a nerdy PT 🤷🏻‍♀️.

The thing is, what your baby wears affects their movement, and that includes diapers.

Diapers are bulky between their legs and make it more difficult for your baby to balance, resulting in more missteps and falls. And cloth diapers are more guilty of this than disposable.

Try this:

Ditch the diaper & go naked.

Okay, I can read your mind right now. No, you don’t need to stop diapering up bébé. But when your baby is learning to walk, try giving them some time each day to walk naked. The perfect time is right before or after bath time.

This will give them time to practice those steps without their pesky diaper getting in the way.
