Tummy Time Ambiance
It can be pretty overwhelming when your baby cries every time you put them on their tummy. There are lots of suggestions for tummy time modifications out there, but one thing is often overlooked.
The ambiance!
Try this:
Turn on the tunes during tummy time 🎶
Music is a great way to help calm your baby’s nervous system, and help them enjoy playing on their tummy. You’ve probably noticed there's a handful of songs that stop your baby in their tracks and put a smile on their face. Make a short play list, and turn it on right as you begin to practice tummy time.
Music has the added benefit of calming your nervous system, too! Since your baby is looking to you to learn how to regulate themselves, turning on some of your favorite tunes can take you from frazzled and flustered to cool as a cucumber. And when you’re calm and patient, your baby is more likely to perceive tummy time as safe and secure.
BONUS: I asked you on Instagram what songs your baby loves. I made a playlist of songs that I listen to with babies during therapy sessions, and included a few of your favorites, too!
